During the pandemic, in the summer and fall of 2020, I took an online Adobe Illustrator class through the Fashion Institute of Technology. In order to practice the basic tools in the program, we were instructed to upload an image to trace. Looking through my collection of Modern Art books, I chose the painting, "Iberic", by Carmen Herrera because of its simplicity and graphic quality. Late in 2022, I participated in a challenge to create an abstract mini quilt in this color palette. After altering and recoloring the image created in class, I printed a paper outline to use as a cutting guide. When it was done it reminded me of the brightly colored, peel and stick plastic Colorform shapes we played with in elementary school. Colorforms was machine pieced and quilted on a stationary machine.
