Do you see many playful circles? Or do you see nine squares? Using negative space and value, the circles come together to outline nine squares, which recede or push forward, depending on how you look at the quilt. The squares and circles are having a lively conversation, and neither can exist without the other. This quilt is composed of a 7 x 7 grid, using one simple quilt block: a square with one, two, three or four quarter circles. The density of the quilting varies, in order to emphasize the nine squares and the grid.
