This quilt was initially inspired by an interest in anaglyph 3D images in a quilt. It started as the XXX image, paired with my quilting "brand", which plays on the name of an infamous porno from the 1970's, "Debbie Does Dallas". With that in mind, the concept for this quilt rapidly spiraled out of control, laughing all the way. Last came the idea for the vintage theater marquee. While there are so many hours of sewing in this quilt, its the many full days of studying the color selection, which features 38 different fabrics, that paid off here. And its the red glow, made from all Kona Solids, that is the show stopper and gives this image such an authentic and believable feel. The "double feature" is looking at the quilt through both red/blue and pink/green 3D glasses.
