A dissectologist is a person that loves to assemble jigsaw puzzles. I think this term should be broadened because my favorite part of quilting is the puzzle of piecing together the top. For a long time, I’ve wanted to create a quilt that played around with angular and circular shapes overlapping each other. I knew it’d be a fun puzzle, and I was correct. When I initially designed this quilt, I wanted it to feel as if the blue and purple pieces were breaking apart, displaying the green background. However, once I saw it all pieced together, I saw the opposite happening. I saw the blue and purple sections coming together, closing up the green background, almost as if they were pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. That’s when I knew I had come full circle on this quilt and it was my representation of the “study of puzzles'' or dissectology.
