When I travel I love to window shop and I especially enjoy photographing the displays of designer boutiques. The palette for this quilt was inspired by a window full of Dior summer clothing. I gathered fabrics in those colors and as I played with line and shape on the design wall I was reminded of long ago summers on the Italian coast. What I enjoy most about the process of improvising is when a quilt tells you what it wants to be.
