The moment when a realization is made. When what was once dark all the sudden shows a clear spark of understanding. I love how both the positive and negative space play off each other, creating a dynamic crystal like shape. The hand quilting towards the center lends to the effect that this is a spark of light, which light contains all colors. I used my feedback from my 2023 QuiltCon entry as a prompt to create this piece. The quilt was a modern take on a lone star design and the feedback hinted that I could have gone in an even more modern direction. I leaned into that idea and came up with this design which I feel took the lone star design to a whole different dimension. Quilted with a double layer of batting. The quilting motif is my own free motion design, done with clear thread.
