“But out of limitations comes creativity.” Debbie Allen. When designing quilts, I challenge myself to have a minimal amount of fabric waste. To set any type of limitation in your work, one must stretch their imagination and creativity. Sometimes a design needs to be tweaked or pieces need to be resized to maximize the use of fabric. It also means that sometimes I need to come up with a new way of creating a shape or a new technique. This pattern is one of my ‘No Cutting Corners’ designs. The stitch and flip method usually used to create 45-degree corners can produce a lot of waste. Sub-cutting half square triangles yields the same results while saving fabric as well as time. I am honored to have had my pattern selected for the QuiltCon magazine.
