I used drunkard's path type shapes cut freehand with my rotary cutter to improvise the design using a variety of fabrics including some of my own hand-dyes to create The Night Garden. The repetition of the swooping shapes and colors reminded me of experiencing a garden at night. I started on this quilt just a few days before my 99 year old father passed away. It was soothing to work on this organic/nature inspired quilt while in mourning and reflecting on the natural rhythm of life, death and renewal.
