This quilt was inspired by octopus tentacles. I hand-stitched the base of the tentacle to the background, then machine-quilted the base and the background. I made the suckers using one of Ana Buzzalino’s techniques for making stones, by placing fabric over a base of Timtex interfacing and high loft batting. I hand-stitched the center of each sucker in place, then hand-quilted around them to create the sucker-like appearance and texture. I then hand-stitched the suckers to the tentacle base and backgound.
