I designed this block using my Improv Paper Piecing method, described in my book by the same name. I rotated my improvisationally designed foundation paper pieced templates to create a larger block with four quadrants. The space between the colorful shapes you see was originally planned to be another color. I removed that color, replacing it with the peach background color, creating a more scattered design that looks a bit like stained glass. All of those little plum colored triangles gave the quilt its name. I love hearing what others see when they look at this improvisationally based design that wasn't intended to depict anything in particular. Some see flowers, others see stained glass. What I like best is the suggestion of butterfly wings. I quilted straight lines with 1/4" spacing.
