I used very simple shapes in "Summer Cherries." I wanted the bright green and magenta to stand out so I chose to layer grayscale pieces with the darkest value in the back. I created black bias strips for the stems and appliquéd them as well as the cherries. When I used light colored thread for the straight line quilting, it created a veiled effect on the surface which I quite liked.
