This quilt took its time telling me what it wanted to be, resulting in several false starts, ripping out hours of stitching, lopping off the bottom half of the original quilt and then having to expand it to create the right proportions of the different greens. I spontaneously decided to quilt freehand spirals rather than wavy lines as I had planned. Gradually the yellow arc felt like a band of sunshine, and then I knew that the background spirals should be different shades of floral tones. Once this image became fixed in my mind, selecting the thread colors to create my imaginary field of flowers brought me so much joy. I felt the warmth of the sun and the glow of flowers stretching out into infinity.
