I wanted to use the scraps from the QuiltCon 2024 award ribbons that I made to piece a scrappy quilt. These fabrics represent 12 categories worth of ribbons while the background is the same fabric as Best in Show. For several of the categories, I added a fourth fabric in linen or shot cotton to add more depth and texture to the quilt. For the design, I wanted to conceptualize the rosettes, which is one of my favorite parts of the ribbons. It’s not only an honor to make the award ribbons to capture this specific moment in time of amazing modern quilts, it’s fun to have my own quilt to represent my contribution. A fun fact: the backing fabric is the same as the ribbon portion of the QuiltCon 2023 Best in Show ribbon.
