I have never hesitated to try new methods and then move on to another technique, focusing on the "learning" part of quilting. However, this approach has been unsatisfying for the last few years, and I haven't allowed myself the time and space to develop my quilting aesthetic. For 2023, I chose to slow down and focus on a series of quilts featuring overlapping inset strips floating on a background that I named "Pick-up Sticks." This quilt was made with linen and quilting cotton. My husband thinks it looks like a crazy highway intersection, but I call it "Pick Up Sticks #5". Look at it long enough; you'll see the order in which the strips were added, like playing a game of pick-up sticks. The binding was comprised with portions removed during the insertion of each strip. Can you match the binding with the inserted strip?
