My inspiration for this quilt was the artwork of Lynda Hyde, particularly her 2020 piece titled "Up is Just a Place to Come Down From". While mine design is a tad different from Lynda's, I reached out to her, and she graciously gave me her blessing to forge ahead with creating this design concept out of fabric. It was about halfway through piecing the individual pentagon pops that I realized that I would have 24 points coming together in one location, which turned my biggest challenge on this quilt into piecing that spot without having too much bulk. I had a blast making this and will be exploring more 3d design challenges in the future.
