Named "Manhattan Solstice", this art piece gained inspiration from a beautiful event that occurs two times a year. Because of the specific location of the setting sun, it aligns precisely with the Manhattan street grid, creating a radiant glow of amazing light or solstice which is outlined by the city buildings. In this wall art, I set out to use flat or muted colors in browns and blues to represent the windows of Manhattan buildings. Then by placing the very bright sunlight colors over the top of the flat ones. I was working towards making the light seem to float on top as a very bright solstice.
