This quilt started as a mural design for my nephew's bedroom. Somewhere along the way my sister got cold feet about me painting it on a wall of their house, so I decided to make it into a quilt instead. I named it Laneways as Melbourne/Naarm, where I live, is a city known for its laneways filled with street art. If it can't live life as a mural, then at least it can be named after a place they can be found locally. I loved working with these big piecing shapes, but the quilting was a challenge – it's the most complex I've attempted on my domestic machine, with all those colour changes.
