The design ‘grew’ from a six-petalled creation - an unusually botanical shape for me and one reminiscent of a Hellebore mutation with an extra petal. Exploring the angle of the wedges and altering the number of petals led me to a five, eight and, finally, a four-petalled version. The folds and depth created by changing the colour value is enhanced by Iva Steiner’s quilting.
