This quilt was inspired by a quilt made by my great-great-great grandmother, Elizabeth Sawyer Chapman, in the 1940's. I took the block from her quilt, split it in four, rotated the pieces, and added the stripes and sashings to create this twist on her traditional quilt. I am lucky enough to be a sixth-generation quilter, and enjoyed the chance to honour my foremothers by creating this quilt inspired by one of them.
