We would have no biodiversity without evolution. My quilt represents how a single species, over the span of millions of generations, could give rise to a very diverse population with a lot of different species. Some species may still look a lot like the original, while others have acquired traits that make them very different. Sometimes change will happen slowly, sometimes it will occur more rapidly. The quilting represents a genetic bottleneck, such as a flood or disease, that wiped out a large part of the population. Over time, through evolution, are more diverse population can develop from the survivors. All materials f0r this quilt came from my stash to make the project as sustainable as possible.
