Inspired by an image on Pinterest I started playing around with circles of different sizes, what happens if I made them bigger or smaller, what if they blended together. It was a fun experiment to draw them out. I have been working on cleaning up my old beliefs and childhood programming, as I was drawing the design I imagined the openings as my awareness of thoughts that are no longer serving me. I have been slowly chipping away at them and exposing a new way of thinking. Some of the new openings start as a tiny hole and then they grow bigger and bigger freeing whole parts of my life. The background is pieced and quilted before the overlay was appliqued and quilted. The tricky part was quilting the background and accounting for shrinkage so the applique overlay would be where I wanted it to be in the intersecting blocks.
