Sashiko and quilting have many things in common, but there are also stark differences Atsushi has discovered as he has learned more about the quilting world. Many of the differences seem to follow many cultural values. For example, precision and the skill to control the tools are highly important in quilting, but in sashiko, acceptance is key. This lecture aims to be a bridge between appropriation and appreciation and to encourage the continued trend of combining quilting and sashiko.
