Sarah has been making quilts for over forty years – that’s a long time! And for almost all of those years, people have told her she has a gift for color. Most of those years, Sarah never tried very hard to examine how she works with color. With no formal art education, but more of a passing acquaintance with the color wheel, Sarah seemingly established a balance for her work that she feared she could upset! More recently, Sarah has become more intentional in her relationship with color, through direct experimentation and collaboration with other artists. In this lecture, Sarah will discuss this journey, including the things she’s learned and how she’s learned them. She will share several quilts and what she learned through making them, as well as other artists who have taught her about color, all the while sharing nuggets you can use in your own color exploration.
