Required Supplies: - The WALK 2.0 book is highly recommended, and Jacquie recommends the first WALK book as well. The books are available for purchase from your local quilt shop or Amazon)
- Thread for quilting (Jacquie recommend 50 weight aurifil thread in both the top and bobbin) You may want to bring a 28 weight thread for experimentation.
- Fabric safe marking pencil or pen and a 12” acrylic ruler for marking
- Four 15" x 15" quilt sandwiches for practice. (top, batting, backing) Please make sure the batting and backing extend 1” on each side beyond the quiltable area.
- Straight pins and either masking or painter’s tape
- Tweezer or stiletto for helping pull up bobbin thread
Practice sandwiches should be whole cloth and solid fabrics so you can easily see your stitching. Jacquie recommends low loft cotton batting. You can pin baste or spray baste your prepared quilt sandwiches, but they need to be basted and ready to quilt. Spray basted quilt sandwiches will be easier to mark and are recommended.
Optional Supplies: - Quilting gloves
- We all learn and quilt at different rates. Feel free to bring an extra practice sample or two if you are a fast worker. I will be happy to provide additional options to try if you have extra time.
Prep Requirements: Please make sure practice sandwiches are basted and ready to quilt.
Ready to advance from simple channel quilting to quilting stunning, complex designs using the walking foot? In Advanced Walking Foot quilting students will quilt designs with more lines, use intensive marking to mark and quilt rotational designs, quilt designs requiring turning and pivoting, as well as layer quilting components on base grids. Students will learn and practice techniques from the BIG Six walking foot techniques outlined in WALK 2.0. By mastering each of these techniques, students will come away with a quilting toolbox filled with possibilities. Students should be familiar with walking foot basics and be a confident beginner or intermediate quilter to enroll in this quilt. Sewing machines generously provided by event sponsors!
