Required Supplies: - Finished blocks or pieces that are ready to play with
- Article of clothing like a sweatshirt, denim jacket, t-shirt, etc, or a tote bag/backpack- really anything that you would like to quiltify
- Appliqué needle and embroidery needle
- Thread for appliqué- 50 wt or higher
- Thread for embroidery-12 wt or lower
- Ruler (any size) – shared rulers will also be available
Optional Supplies: Extra blocks or WIPS to swap
Prep Requirements: Blocks should already be made, there will be no sewing machines in the room.
Do you have a stack of past QuiltCon projects or other lonely blocks and no idea what to do with them? Bring them to this class and use them to create some quilt couture! Using needle turn applique, students will learn how to incorporate and attach blocks to jackets, bags, clothing, or whatever existing thing that needs embellishment. This will be a fun class where students will get to know their fellow classmates, appreciate the meditative practice of embellishment, and create a unique piece that you can wear out of class. Students should bring one or more items that they want to quilt-ify: a denim jacket, a sweatshirt, a backpack, whatever you can think of.
