Required Supplies: A variety of quilting cottons, solids and/or patterned fabrics to use in your own designed quilt.
If you are wanting to make Karen's version you will need: - 1yd each of 2 main fabrics - 1yd of background fabric
Prep Requirements: No prep is necessary but if you wanted to explore images of historical quilts to get your creative juices flowing then please do, but it is by no means necessary.
In this workshop we will be looking at images of quilts from the past and finding links to practices today to use as inspiration for designing our own modern version. We will look at modern interpretations of historical blocks and discuss what makes the same practices from days gone by evolve into modern quilts. Students will then each choose a block or blocks from the past and design their own modern version taking inspiration from what has gone before and turning it into something modern. Sewing machines generously provided by event sponsors!
