Free yourself from patterns and accuracy with this relaxed and forgiving approach to needle-turn applique. Students will cut freehand rainbow hoops and then hand stitch them to a background using a simple turned edge applique technique. Jo will show students how to use hand quilting and embroidery embellishments to add even more texture to their hand stitching, and how to use the same technique to create freehand circles, rings, and other organic shapes. Mix and match fabrics from nine mini blocks to make an 18” pillow cover or mini quilt. Alternatively, students can make single blocks and finish them as cute coasters, or start making a whole quilt’s worth of these playful modern rainbows.
