Want to multiply the block options for your next quilt? Come learn hands-on improv techniques using transparency sheets and computer skills with Adobe Illustrator to multiply your options! Worried that these unique designs are too tricky for you to sew? Not to worry! Kerry will show you how English Paper Piecing can help you achieve the looks of these blocks without all the stress. Students will start the workshop with basic hands-on skills (transparency and graph paper) to understand the premise of "multiplying" quilt blocks using just three colors and various blocks. Students will then learn the necessary Adobe Illustrator skills to take simple traditional blocks to convert and ""multiply"" the blocks digitally into a colorful improv quilt of their own design. In the final portion of the class, each student will select one block of their choosing, to begin prepping and sewing as English Paper Piecing.
*Students will need their own computers with Adobe Illustrator (or comparable free version) for part of the class. Anyone without a computer is welcome to attend and can still learn a great deal with the hands-on techniques. If you choose to participate with Illustrator, be sure to bring your laptop computer, power cord, and your Illustrator software installed and activated prior to class.
