This workshop focuses on color value and how, as in music, there are major keys and minor keys. Color value is important because we can create different moods in our composition just using value! To learn this technique, students will create six small and simple landscapes using different values from white to black and then transform those achromatic landscapes into colorful landscapes by following the same value key used in the original achromatic landscape. Students will leave the workshop understanding: the importance of using value to create a mood; color value keys – high-medium-low major key and high-medium-low minor key; how to transform an achromatic value scale into a chromatic scale; and how to piece stunning landscapes using improv and soft curves. Sewing machines generously provided by event sponsors!
