This quilt was inspired by an antique quilt in the collection of Mary Kerr. I loved the three dimensional look created by the angled nine-patches, and expanded on it by adding additional scales of blocks. I tried to select a clever name based on the number 9 (cloud nine, nine lives, etc) but this is a cheeky quilt which had a mind of her own, and she wanted something pretty. So meet Clementine ( as in the song “lived a miner, forty-miner). Clementine and I are both happy with her name.
