I am finding that my favourite applique technique helps me to express myself creatively. I draw on paper and then create quilts from the drawings by enlarging it. The technique of drawing layered circles was one that I found on Pinterest. I experimented with drawing several pictures of circle then choosing my favourite to enlarged. I love the layered depth and optical illusion that the circles create kind of like the layers of our mind and social conditioning and poking holes in the layers has been life changing for me. The colours helps to create more depth. I thought about the quilting and how I could use to the expand the circles out in the middle layers until they bumped into each other. I wanted the background to be densely quilted to make it recede into the background as much as possible and choose to do the quilting hand guided.
