I love that quilting is an old-fashioned tradition and reminds me that people used to make things with what they had available. At my local sewing shop, I was able to find scraps that would often be discarded and fit them together like a puzzle to make something useful and beautiful and that cannot be reproduced. I like that quilts have no rules and no limits - they can be any shape, any size, any patterns. I like making things that may seem mismatched to most people into something beautiful. I love when sewn objects have stories behind them about the people who made them. It inspires me that I am making things that someone will be able to eventually tell a story about me. I take tremendous pride in being able to make things myself that require hard work and will be used by my family for a long time.
