In 2023 I designed a precision pieced pattern, Neptune Star. But I am primarily an improv quilter and decided to blow up the 22" block to a 40" quilt and improv piece it. Each section has an analogous color scheme, but some colors carry over to another section. For example, one of the reds in the star points is also in the hour glass sections. The background was improv pieced and then I individually cut each piece. Each star section was individually improv pieced. While I made a rough template for the sections, they were not cut using a ruler, so that led to some wonky points and intersections. I quilted it on my mid-arm using 40 wt blue thread on the top and 50 wt ivory thread on the bottom. I chose an irregular grid pattern to accentuate the wonk.
