My goal was to create a quilt that looked like embroidery stitches. I took inspiration from the Sashiko style of embroidery, and used negative space to create the small gaps between the white stitch blocks. I played with the orientation of the stitch blocks until the design spoke to me - flowers. The silky white fabric juxtaposed with the rayon/linen blend fabric helps create the idea of stitches. I chose simple straight line quilting to blend in with the stitch blocks. The quilt is light, airy, simple, beautiful and striking.
