The comfort of linen, the warmth and love of dad’s shirts, and the borrowed black linen accents, come together to create a tribute to a man known for his warm embrace. The quilt is mostly hand pieced from the last scraps of a memory quilt and is hand quilted. The light to dark fabric and variegation of white to dark hand quilting draw you deeper into the embrace. The reuse of fabric, the use of batting scraps, and the slow contemplative process is a nod to a man who devoted his life to being a responsible steward of the earth, and who shared a birthday with Earth Day.
