Required Supplies: - 6 1/2" minimum square ruler with a 45° line OR HST specialty ruler of your choice – larger shared rulers will also be available
- Marking pencils for both light and dark fabrics or a Hera marker
- Rotary cutter and spare blade – shared cutters will be available but you may wish to bring your own to maximize class time
- Thread – neutral thread will be provided but you are also welcome to bring your brand/weight of choice
- Seam ripper
- Pins
- Notebook for taking notes
- Large piece of batting for laying out the design
- An assortment 5 1/4" squares - Cut enough squares to get started in class, in an assortment of light, medium and dark values. See PDF for entire pattern requirements

The Big Ocean quilt is a wonderful exploration of technique and value. This workshop will cover the basics of creating the time-honored Half Square Triangle block, including tips and tricks for squaring, and several ways to make the block. Other topics will include how color placement and value can create high impact compositions that move the focus across the quilt. Sewing machines generously provided by event sponsors!
