Optional Supplies: You can also purchase two different Aurifil collection boxes that Jo designed specifically for Modern Crewel Embroidery called Modern Crewelwork and Stitching with Wool. Both are available from Aurifil stockists or direct from the company if you are in the USA.
Prep Requirements: Jo will be showing you how to draw your Pebble design freehand at the start of the class but if you prefer to prepare in advance you can download a pattern PDF from the link provided. There are two size options to choose from depending on your level of experience/ambition!
Make a start on your very own Pebbles Sampler and learn a range of traditional crewelwork stitches including chain stitch, spiderweb stitch, colonial knots, bullion knots, seed stitch, satin stitch, and laid work. Jo has taken these traditional stitches and given them a modern twist with this fun design inspired by the pebbles FMQ pattern. The workshop will cover embroidery basics such as starting and finishing threads correctly and how to back an embroidery hoop. Jo will also share more information about crewel embroidery and tips for stitching with wool. When finished at home your mini masterpiece will already be framed in its own 6” hoop!
