The term "Pixel Art" was first used in the early 1980s while the term "Patchwork" for sewing and quilting has been around for more than 5000 years. What does one have to do with the other? Designing a pixel quilt from a favorite image is a perfect introduction to designing patchwork quilts, because a pixel is a simple square. Students who have always wanted to create their own patchwork quilt designs will learn some of the basic tools and techniques needed to convert a photo to a pixel design and then convert that design to patchwork. Students will develop their pixel and patchwork blocks in the EQ8 program by Electric Quilt with hands-on help. Students must bring their own laptop and power supply. Electric Quilt 8 must be installed and activated prior to class. Basic EQ8 knowledge is helpful.
