NOTE: Materials fees are required for some workshops. These fees are paid directly to faculty and are not part of your registration fee. Sold Out?: Yes
Required Supplies: - Perle cotton #8 (Carolina uses Eleganza from Wonderfil Specialty Threads in many different colors, but you can choose to use just one color)
- Scissors - shared scissors will be provide but you may wish to bring your own to maximize class time
Prep Requirements: For this class you need to prepare the mini quilts that we are going to use for practice. You need to prepare these sandwiches in the same way that you baste your quilts (Top fabric + batting + back fabric) I just use a solid white fabric for this and a 100% cotton batting.
For quilting these samples you need to use your walking foot, Carolina recommends you to use the same thread in the bobbin and needle. Use a stitch length between 2.8 - 3.0.
In the PDF you can find information on how to use a walking foot for quilting and details on how to prepare your sandwiches for class.
Mixup quilting will add a new layer of interest to any quilt! Students will learn how to add hand quilting to walking foot designs to take their quilt to the next level. By mixing these two beautiful quilting techniques, students will be able to add color, texture, and movement to their creations. Participants will bring a small sample that has already been machine-quilted with a walking foot. During the workshop, students will learn different hand-quilting designs and have time to add artistic expression to their piece. Students will leave this workshop with a multitude of options for future quilts!
