The blocks will finish at 6” square. This technique is most effective when the fabric print has a motif that fits comfortably within a 6” square. Some blocks will require more than one repeat of the same motif.
- Choose 2 prints. Bring each print in 2-3 colorways. You'll bring 4-6 fat quarters total.
- Bring along any large scraps of these prints that you might want to incorporate
Learn to make dazzling blocks using large scale prints with precision, genius-level cutting, and traditional machine stitching. Students will learn proper preparation and pressing for perfect pattern matching, why pins are the enemy of precision, when a quarter-inch seam allowance matters (and when to ignore it), and how to avoid cutting the wrong part of the print 5 times in a row. Workshop will also include a discussion on fabric selection, Bobbie's favorite tools, and supplies to set you up for success. Students will practice these techniques using their own fabrics to make two show-stopping blocks. Sewing machines generously provided by event sponsors!
